About Us

2014 Year (1st year)

In the year 2014 the planning team, known as the "Founding Four", decided to produce and manage a local motorcycle charity ride on behalf of Wounded Warriors Canada (www.woundedwarriors.ca), without any corporate sponsorship.

Since it was the first year (2014), we initially wanted to accomplish the following:

1. Make it a motorcycle community event, supported only by motorcycle riding groups and riders;

2. Solicit support, participation of riding groups, to undertake ride management of the ride, in support of the planning team:

3. Founding Four: Adwin "OJ" Gallant, Bud Ranger, JP Grenier, Larry Olson). This was accomplished by the participation of almost 200 motorcyclists within the Ottawa area, and raised over $7500.00 for Wounded warriors PTSD Recovery Program.

4. Support Riding Groups: Included the following: Blue Knights II (Police Riding Group); Red Knight (Firefighter Riding Group);  Canadian Motorcycle  Cruisers (Social Riding Group);  and  UN-NATO (Veteran Riding  Group);

5. Support by local community:  Community Grocer; Independent Grocer Chain (Facility - Start/End location - Stittsville Town); Royal Canadian Legion (Stop Location - Perth); Merrickville Township Support (Stop Location - Merrickville);

6. Media Event Support: CHEZ 106 Radio: www.chez106.com and local newspaper Guard of Honour: guardofhonour.newspaperdirect.com

7. Event Support: 2014 Ottawa Motorcycle Show - Booth Promotion and event marketing: www.ottawainternationalmotorcycleshow.ca

8. Internet Services Support - Webpage production: www.ridefordisabledvets.ca and Facebook Advertisement: facebook.com/RideForDisabledVets

9. Provide support to National Charity: Who are supporting injured/ill Veterans - Wounded Warriors Canada: www.woundedwarriors.ca

10. Provide Community Awareness: Info relating to support for Canadian veterans who are suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the recovery services available;

Results (2014). All the objective were accomplished by the participation of almost 200 motorcyclists within the Ottawa area, and raised over $7500.00 for Wounded Warriors PTSD Recovery Program (Service Dogs).

2015 Year (2nd year)

Support Riding Groups: Included the following: Capital City Roadrunners; Red Knight (Firefighter Riding Group); Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers (Social Riding Group); and UN-NATO (Veteran Riding Group);

Support Communities: Stittsville (Brown Independent Grocer) , Merrickville-Wolfforth Township, Perth (Royal Canadian Legion) , Beckwith Township.

For 2015, we continued to carry out the initial objective/purpose of the ride event. Since our primary goal is community awareness of suffering/ill soldiers/veteran, the added sponsorship allowed further expansion of the ride, as well as additional funding available for increased media exposure to Ottawa area communities. With the additional community support and sponsorship we were able to attract 222 rides, even with threat of severe rain. The total funds donated to Wounded Warriors Canada in 2015, for PTSD recovery Program, was over $8500.00

2016 Year (3rd year)

Support Riding Groups: Included the following: Capital City Roadrunners; Red Knight (Firefighter Riding Group); Canadian Motorcycle Cruisers (Social Riding Group); and UN-NATO (Veteran Riding Group);

Support Communities: Stittsville (Brown Independent Grocer) , Merrickville-Wolford Township, Perth (Royal Canadian Legion) , Beckwith Township.

In 2016, we continued to support the main objectives of this ride, create a ride by riders or all riders. The ride continues to be supported by various ride groups in conducting the ride, and the local communities of Ottawa area. We hope to grow in 2016 with an achieved target of 300 riders and raising $11,000.00 for Wounded warriors Canada (PTSD Recovery Program).

2017 Year (4th year)

In 2017 we have decided to change charity support to a local charity, which also support PTSD Recovery (Service dogs), the Canada Veteran Service Dog Unit www.cvsdu.ca. All funds raised will go directly to this charity for the 2017 ride event. We also continue to try and maintain the original objectives, of motorcycle rider , and community support. This ride continues to be put on by riders, for riders. We hope to increase slightly the participation of riders, with a target of 400 participants.
